We are looking for a Wastewater Technician / Plant Operator for a recycling & waste management company based in Forth. The successful applicant will be required to work on a wastewater treatment plant and will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
You will support the Wastewater / Environmental Manager with the operation and maintenance of a wastewater activated sludge plant treating various effluents from waste, whilst adhering to environmental consent limits.
This role would also require you to assist with environmental monitoring duties including groundwater and surface water sampling.
Key Accountabilities / Tasks of the Wastewater Technician
Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant including carrying out daily plant checks and inspections of liquid holding lagoons and leachate collection systems.Carry out laboratory testing on process liquids and final effluent, ensuring final effluent compliance.Ensure all information is accurately recorded for audit purposes.Clean and calibrate equipment and instrumentation.Defective maintenance tasks including unblocking pumps, screens, and valves to ensure continuous plant operation.Perform general housekeeping, labour, and maintenance duties.Adhere to health and safety procedures in order to ensure the safety of self and others to minimise risk.Develop basic understanding of environmental regulations and the ability to work within an environmentally regulated industry.Assist with environmental monitoring duties including gas, surface, and groundwater sampling.Be available for on-call response to leachate system-related malfunction events.Due to the nature of this role, you must be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be prepared to work within the company's rota of a 7-day working week.
This Wastewater Technician role would suit candidates with experience or an interest in developing skills in wastewater treatment, waste management, environmental monitoring, as a Plant Operator, Wastewater Operator, or Wastewater Technician.
