Multi-trade Painter / Decorator required for award winning holiday modation

Here at Macbackpackers, we’re looking to hire a time served Painter / Decorator to join our maintenance team, helping to maintain and improve the quality of our multi award - winning holiday accommodation in Edinburgh’s Old Town!
With bags of energy and a can - do attitude, you’ll be responsible for keeping our backpackers (Youth hostels) bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas in tip top condition. Ideally you’ll have experience of working alone, as part of a wider maintenance set up.
The nature of your work will range from minor damage or wear & tear touch ups and feather-ins, through to full room redecoration and sash and case window sanding / painting. Alongside your painting tasks, you will find an element of minor day to day maintenance necessary (changing lightbulbs / hanging curtains etc) so any general maintenance / ‘handyman’ skills would be appreciated.
Being an excellent communicator, you will take direction from our hostel maintenance team and senior Macbackpackers staff alike, whilst communicating with hostel staff on a daily basis, highlighting any faults found / urgent fixes / arranging room closures as necessary.
Our core business has a youthful vibe with staff to match, so the ability to ‘keep up’ and join in the busyness / speed of activity and turnover of work within the hostel / tourism business is essential.
In return you’ll receive a competitive salary (£14 p/h), alongside a friendly working environment. Work commitments could occasionally take you to our sister hostel network in the Highlands too. Decorator’s brushes, tools and overalls will be provided.
