Description : 08 Feb, 2023
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, caring, and innovative manager to maintain a child-centred therapeutic home in a brand-new provision in Stoke on Trent for children aged 8-17 with learning disabilities. We will consider experienced deputy managers who are looking to progress and who can demonstrate the key skills at interview.
We have been sourced by the local Authority to provide a new therapy based residential care setting for young people with complex learning disabilities. Our restorative and positive behaviour support approach focuses on understanding and addressing the underlying needs of children and young people, rather than on their behaviours and the challenges.
We are looking for an experienced leader who can demonstrate empathy, commitment, compassion, and the creativity needed to work with young people with varying abilities and from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and genders. We want someone who can demonstrate the leadership, patience and resilience required in a role working with vulnerable young people and supporting a staff team.
The successful candidate will support young people and staff to grow and develop to their full potential by:
- Embracing the organisation's visions and values, therapeutic ethos and implementing our Positive Behaviour Support Approach.
- Nurturing a homely, caring environment in which young people and staff can thrive.
- Ensuring that the home's statement of purpose is adhered to, and the home's objectives are always met. Working within the organisations' policies and procedures, the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and associated Quality Standards.
The role requires:
Essential
- QCF Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Children's Residential Care - backed up with exceptional leadership and management skills or the willingness to undertake this qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a residential leadership position.
- 4 years' experience of working with vulnerable young people - particularly people with a learning disability.
- Therapeutic or Positive Behaviour Support experience.
- A thorough understanding and knowledge of relevant legislation and Ofsted regulations.
- A willingness and ability to cover on-call duties and work flexibly as required. Working a 40-hour week, the role will be suited to candidates from a therapeutic, social work, youth work or care background.
Desirable
- Current or previous registration with Ofsted as a registered manager, with a track record of good in Ofsted inspections.
Benefits:
- A positive, supportive, and therapeutic working environment.
- Generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Refer a friend scheme.
- Company pension.
- Continuous personal development.
- Health cash plan providing funding towards medical care.
- Employee Assistance Programme.
- £250 joining bonus.
- Access to a rewards and recognition scheme.
The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.
