Career Teachers are seeking passionate, confident, and experienced Teaching Assistant to work within an Ofsted rated Good SEN School located within Derby.
As a Teaching Assistant at this Ofsted rated Outstanding SEN School, you will be responsible for providing learning support to individuals and groups while supporting teaching staff. You will be supporting pupils aged 5-19, as a special educational needs teaching assistant (SENTA) you will be dedicated to the development of inclusive education for all its pupils, through the development of active and innovative minds. It supports a wide-ranging, well-adjusted, engaging, and rich curriculum in core and foundation subjects, such as liberal arts, humanities, physical education, and the development of functional and life skills, including work-related learning. In addition, work with Teachers to support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of teaching staff and may be responsible for some learning activities within the overall teaching plan.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the Teacher, adapting activities according to pupil's responses as appropriate, therefore the ideal candidate would be flexible and able to think on their feet.
Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour.
Support the Teacher in monitoring, assessing, and recording pupil progress/activities, using summative and formative assessment methods and live marking.
Provide feedback to pupils in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the Teacher.
Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the Teacher.
Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the Teacher as appropriate.
Share information about pupils with other staff, parents / carers, internal and external agencies, as appropriate.
Understand and support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils as required.
Using EHCPs in line with the student's specific learning and behavioural needs.Requirements:
Have previous experience of working with children with autism spectrum disorder.
Share an understanding of the importance of a child-centred approach to learning.
Hold an NVQ Level 1 or 2, BTEC Level 1 or 2 or equivalent in Teaching Assistant or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
Plan deliver and evaluate teaching and learning activities under the direction of a teacher.
Support Literacy and Numeracy development
Observe and promote pupil performance and development.
