Description : 24 Mar, 2023
Project Leader - Big Plastic Count GBP52,212- GBP58,584 per annum (We normally offer a starting salary at the start of the range) Full-time (37.5h) / Fixed term contract until January 31st 2025 Based in Islington, London
Greenpeace is an international non-profit global campaigning organisation. Our independence and global reach enable us to stand for positive change through action in order to defend nature and promote peace. We investigate and expose global environmental problems, confront those in positions of power and present alternative solutions.
This is a unique opportunity for a Project Leader to combine all your skills in project and team leadership with the use of campaigning, communications or public engagement tactics to get results.
You'll lead a multi-disciplinary project team to develop and deliver the Big Plastic Count in 2023 and 2024. This aims to engage the British public - particularly youth - in the scale of the plastic waste problem and to challenge governments and corporations to take systemic action to end the overproduction of plastic.
Working closely with partners to develop a clear vision for the project, you'll be responsible for successful delivery of the Big Plastic Count. It's a role that requires innovative and inspiring project leadership and team management, as well as a firm control over day-to-day project management and a budget of GBP250,000 per year.
Location: Islington, London. We are currently trialling a hybrid working model to enjoy the benefits of both office based and remote working. The current expectation is for staff to work from the office in Islington at least 40% of their time. Reasonable adjustments to the trial policy as well as specific office based needs will be considered for those with long term health conditions and disabilities.
You'll have:
• Experience leading a team to deliver a project - be prepared to outline your leadership style and the principles and values you try to embody. • A strong understanding of project management - be prepared to identify what you see as the three most important elements and how you ensure these are addressed. • The ability to create an inclusive and high performing team culture. • Experience in at least one of: campaigning, communications and/or public engagement - with the ability to argue why it would be relevant to this role. • An interest in working in close collaboration with partners, preferably with examples of how you have done this before.
We give you:
You'll be encouraged to develop both personally and professionally, taking advantage of the wide range of learning and development opportunities available to our staff. We offer great benefits such as a generous pension scheme, subsidised lunches, free yoga and a wealth of well-being resources, just to name a few. Take a look at our Work for Greenpeace pages to find out more about what it's like to work for us and why you should apply.
Our commitment to diversity:
At Greenpeace UK we are committed to advancing diversity, inclusion, equity and becoming anti-racist. We acknowledge that people from certain backgrounds are under-represented in environmental and campaigning organisations and want to do all we can to correct this. If you have the skills we need and are a person of colour, disabled, LGBTQIA, non-binary, have a mental health condition, or if you identify as working class now or in the past, we would welcome an application from you.
