We are looking to recruit a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant to join the multi-disciplinary project team working on the AHRC funded project Henry VIII on Tour: Landscapes, Communities and Performance . The project is headed by HRP in collaboration with the Universities of York and Newcastle and the successful applicant will be mentored at HRP by Professor Musson and will liaise directly with co-investigator Dr John Cooper (York) in developing and researching the Kingship/Queenship project theme. You will be expected to work collaboratively and communicate regularly with members of the project team, undertaking research for other thematic pathways as required. You will have the opportunity to engage with HRP s Curatorial Team and other heritage professionals from among our project partners (who include the National Trust, English Heritage, the Historic Houses Association and the community archaeology team, DigVentures). You will have been awarded a doctorate for research in history or a field relevant to the project and will have knowledge of British and/or European history (Apply online only) as well as an understanding of kingship/queenship studies. You will have effective writing skills as well as a proficiency in palaeography, ideally a familiarity with Latin and an ability to read French. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated and a strong communicator with effective writing skills. You should be able to work independently and manage your research time so as to adhere to project milestones, but also be able to collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team of academics and heritage professionals. Your experience of undertaking intensive archival research will make you the ideal candidate for this dynamic role where you will gain experience within the heritage sector as an integral part of this innovative research project.
