The Opportunity
Options Autism, are recruiting Trainee Autism Practitioners to join our team in at our Underley Garden Childrens home, Underley Garden is an Independent Special School and Children's Home. We are Specialists in Education, Care and Therapy for young people with autistic spectrum conditions, learning difficulties, complex behaviour associated with autism and anxiety and mental health needs.
The school and home provide for young people between the ages of 5-19. The school was judged to be Outstanding in all areas in April 2022. During their latest inspection, the Children's Home was judged Good.
You will carry out an essential and varied role to provide the individual, bespoke, support required by the children and young people in our care. You will support the children to appointments and activities such as shopping or trips out, complete relevant paperwork, deliver personal care, undertake household tasks, engage them in tasks and activities, follow positive behaviour support plans and administer medication.
You will act as a corporate parent and build close links with all who are important to the children such as their families and social workers.
Who we are looking for:
Level 4 Apprenticeship for Children Young People and Families Practitioner, Adult Care Work qualified or NVQ equivalent.At least 1 year's hands on experience in a similar residential environment.People with a big heart and passion to make a difference to the residents' livesUnderstanding that the people we care for can be challengingBe patient, resilient and calmingWillingness to learn about the children and young people we support, and how to support them to reach their full potentialWhat we can offer:
