Essential: Degree educated or teaching qualification, ability to teach foundation Maths and higher English at GCSE level. Willingness to learn, be creative, have a genuine interest in supporting young clients with disability. Must be fluent in English. Valid passport & open to travel with the family.
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6.30pm. A 4-day week can be considered.

Jake (15), is a bright, friendly young man with a great sense of humour. He loves history, playing FIFA, video games, reading, playing power chair football, and hanging out with his twin sister. Jake has cerebral palsy, is a wheelchair user and has cochlear implants. He requires support with all personal care tasks, such as dressing, washing, toileting etc. Jake has 2:1 support, and while you will be working alongside his other educator most of the time, there will be times that you will be on your own.
Overview of role:
Jake is seeking an intelligent Teaching Assistant who will be responsible for the delivery of his education. Jake does EOTAS from home and attends school for 2 mornings a week for social interaction. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is interested in education and likes working as part of a wider team of teachers, and therapists. This is a very important year for Jake as he is preparing for his GCSE exams. Jake has subject specific tutors who teach him at home, however, all the work needs to be reinforced and additional lessons need to be made to consolidate his learning. Jake’s lessons are adapted on a computer program called Grid to make it accessible to him, so you’ll need to be computer savvy. There will be plenty of training opportunities for this within the role. Part of the role is to engage with Jake’s sister and assist with her homework if required. Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6.30pm, 4 days can be considered. £50,000.00 to £52,000.00 gross per annum (4 days pro rata) and depending on experience.

Someone who can understand when to offer support and when to take a step back and is experienced in assisting with emotional support. You must be able to deliver lessons to GCSE level particularly in Maths. IT skills are essential. You will be a team player, able to work on your own initiative, and follow instructions when required.
