This Stores Person role is based within their Engineering Stores, located at the Royal School of Military Engineering in Chatham. Stores Person candidate requirements: Capable of Writing in English clearly and numerate Heavy Lifting (within health and safety parameters) Fork Lift Truck experience (desirable) Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety procedures. Ability to plan, organise and communicate clearly Ability to work flexibly and reliably with minimum supervision Ability to load / unload materials and supplies with safe handling Enthusiastic attitude to training and Continuing Professional Development Knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation & requirements Ability to promote safeguarding and welfare of children & young people that s/he is responsible for, or comes into contact with. Stores Person Responsibilities Support Stores Supervisor and Senior storekeeper in carrying out tasks as directed to provide an efficient Stores and Stores services Deputise for Stores supervisor as requested Provide a prompt, efficient and polite counter service Ensure all items are safely and correctly stored Carry out visual checks of tools and equipment for serviceability prior to issue, on receipt and/or annually Clean and service tools and equipment as necessary Request repair, periodic maintenance/servicing, calibration of tools/eqpt as necessary Issue/receive loan tools, toolboxes, power tools and equipment Ensure the stores are kept adequately stocked to support training requirements in consultation with the FM/PAL alerting Stores Supervisor of low stock levels identified Stock taking Maintaining all stores as necessary Manual handling of stored items and storage racking systems, bins, baskets, crates, hoppers etc., as necessary Manual handling of gas cylinders (issue/receipt for training purposes and supplier deliveries/collections) Effectively and efficiently utilise all inventory and asset management system hardware (desktop PCs/laptops, hand-held barcode scanners and wands) and software applications to record data entries/transactions Ensure all inventory and asset management system entries/transactions are carried out promptly and accurately Maintain security of the Stores and Stores facilities at all times Identify suppliers and obtain quotations, as requested by management Produce purchase orders for consumables, materials or equipment as required Prepare parts kits for training phases to a given parts list/specification Driving and operating Fork lift trucks as required (if qualified) Use mechanical handling equipment (pallet trucks, stackers etc.) Carryout banksman duties as required (if qualified) Escort delivery vehicles ( all types: vans, LGVs) Collecting parcels from the Post Room/SRC when required Maintain a clean, tidy Stores environment and personal spaces (desks/lockers etc.) Package Salary GBP24000 Excellent benefits to include: 6 weeks holidays (plus Bank Holidays), contributory pension, private healthcare, sick pay, cycle to work scheme and on-going professional development.
