Job Title: IT Support Engineer

We are seeking a skilled IT Support Engineer to join our team at King Edward VII’s Hospital. The ideal candidate will provide support to hospital staff on all IT-related matters, including hardware, software, and networking. The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the hospital’s IT infrastructure is operating smoothly and that staff can carry out their work with minimal interruptions.
About the role:
This role is key to ensuring the King Edward VII IT Department is best placed to deliver against the needs of our growing business both now and in the future.The focus of this role will be to support the Head of IT in delivering Digital Systems and Applications to King Edward VII’s Hospital.The role is service orientated and focused ensuring patient and staff get a first class service in a friendly environment.
Key Duties:
Respond promptly and efficiently to staff’s IT support requests via phone, email, or in-person.Provide technical assistance and support for all hospital hardware, software, and networking issues.Work closely with the Head of IT to ensure the effective delivery IT services, support projects and activities.Support the Head of IT in the delivery of the digital strategy roadmap, ensuring services are delivery in a timely and effective manner.Ensure the ITIL based ticketing system is maintained and used appropriately to deliver high quality information to key stakeholders.Ensure the application of KEVII change management process are adhered to and supportedTo utilise a call logging/helpdesk system to assist in the management of all incidents from notification to closure, employing best practices in service management, for both incident and problem management.To set-up new user accounts, manage security, mail accounts and network devices within Microsoft dominated architecture.To monitor servers and key network equipment using suitable tools to assess and manage performance, event logs and backups. To maximize both performance and system up-time.Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair hardware and software problems.Maintain accurate records of all IT support requests and their resolutions.Install and configure new hardware and software systems as needed.Train staff on new software applications and systems.Collaborate with other hospital departments to ensure smooth IT operations.
Person Specification:
Ideally educated to a Bachelor’s degree in a technical or clinical area. (Working years of experience may offset the degree requirement.)Prince 2 or Agile project management – desirable but not essentialAt least 1 year(s) relevant working experience with healthcare IT systems and applications or similar high availability systemsGood of information analysis and reportingKnowledge of hospital systems and processes is a plusStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressureFamiliarity with networking technologies, including routers, switches, and firewalls.Ability to work independently and as part of a team
