Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of women and supporting survivors of domestic abuse? Are you interested in supporting a leading domestic abuse organisation with training to GP surgeries and providing ongoing support to health professionals and supporting and advocating for patients experiencing issues of domestic abuse? We are looking for a full time Domestic Abuse trainer based in central Cardiff with travel within Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan. What will you do? Deliver training to health care professionals about Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence in participating general practices. Promote awareness of the experiences and needs of women living with or escaping Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse or Sexual Violence, particularly in relation to their health. Develop a good relationship with all general practice staff and work effectively as part of the practice team. Review number of advocate referrals made by clinicians in participating general practices. Feedback on the use of the electronic template linked to the project and to provide patient feedback and case updates /outcomes. Provide accurate statistical information as and when required. Act as the first point of contact for all queries from primary care. Provide support to women experiencing Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse or Sexual Violence referred by primary health care clinicians from participating practices. Provide direct casework support, advice, information and advocacy to women experiencing Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse or Sexual Violence through telephone contact, and/or meetings at the relevant practice. Work with women experiencing Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse or Sexual Violence to increase their personal safety (and that of any children) and inform them of their rights and options in terms of housing, legal and welfare rights. Develop good working relationships and liaise with outside agencies when needed. Attend meetings as necessary. To represent the organisation and to promote its ethos; to work in a positive way and to feedback fully to the organisation.What will you need? To be compassionate and empathetic. To have a good understanding of domestic violence/ abuse including the impact of domestic violence/ abuse on women and children. Theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse. An understanding of child protection issues, how to respond effectively to safeguard children and young people and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues. An understanding of the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic violence/ abuse and their children. An understanding of the remits and resources of relevant statutory bodies and voluntary agencies. Experience of delivering training and working in a multi-agency setting and legislative framework. Experience of managing a caseload. Knowledge of Multi-agency partnership working and MARAC criteria. A CAADA/SafeLives IDVA training certificate, QCF qualification, or relevant degree. Excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations. A clean driving license and access to a car.What will you get? Salary of GBP24-26k. Fixed term contract until March 2024. 35 hours per week with a flexible work pattern between 9am to 7pm with one on call shift per month. Generous annual leave (33 days including Bank Holidays).
