Vintage folk art grolla - wooden alpine friendship cup 6 spouts hand c

Vintage alpine grolla decorative 6 spout wooden friendship cup hand carved. Hand carved from an Alpine village, the friendship cup is designed for sharing and bonding friendships. As tradition goes, the cup should be filled with coffee or grappe and passed clockwise. Once raised, the cup shouldn't be set down till empty!
The word 'grolla' stems from the word grail, back in the Middle Ages these were made from silver and encrusted with precious gems, and used in religious ceremonies.
This is a particularly good example of a grolla. It measures 22 cm X 22 cm X 14 cm.
The central lid can be removed and the body filled with coffee - or wine! The wood is probably maple (maple and walnut wood are typically used because they can withstand heat).
Would make a wonderful gift for a special friend, or an interesting talking point.
