Quarriers have had a presence in Dumfries and Galloway since 1999 when the organisation was commissioned to develop and provide family based short breaks region wide to significantly disabled children and young people. We have been in a privileged position to identify unmet need for families and the development of a \"whole family\" approach has led to a range of innovative services which work across Dumfries and Galloway.
You would working with our family support for families who have additional needs. We work alongside our colleagues in social services who refer individuals requiring support for a variety of reasons including parents who need help to parent positively. Regionwide we have developed teams of Family Support Workers who work out of office bases in Dumfries and Stranraer.
We are looking for a permanent Relief Family Support Worker. Your role will be varied, you will be providing support at home and in the community to children, young people and parents affected by disability who need additional support. We also work with looked after children in a variety of ways which may include supervised or supported contacts. We work flexibly in response to supporting individuals or groups predominantly outside school/college hours, in the evening and at weekends.
Reliability, flexibility, confidentiality and a sound value and belief system are the most important qualities we look for in all our staff. Children, young people and families need individuals and a team that they can trust - people who are understanding, confident and competent and who pay attention to detail. You will be provided with ongoing training to enhance your own personal development and career with quarriers. IT skills are also required.
Good teamwork is vital to ensure we gain the confidence and meet the needs of both referring agencies and the people we support. You will be joining an existing region wide team of people who feel passionate and work hard to make a difference to local families.
