Thank you. This is a non-spreading, slow-growing, small shrub that looks like bamboo but isn't.
An elegant small evergreen shrub of upright, bamboo-like habit.
I've had this now for nearly 2 years - it's slow growing and still a small plant, but is dainty and attractive. Can be replanted into the ground, if you have a space, ie doesn't have to stay in the pot.
Position: full sun or partial shade
Soil: moist but well-drained soil
Rate of growth: average (quite slow I'd say)
Flowering period: July
Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection - I fleeced it last winter)
Pot is terracotta-coloured plastic and measures approx. 35cm across x 28cm high.
A new variety of Nandina Domestica, evergreen shrubs known for their bamboo-like foliage, Brighlight is particularly appreciated for its winter hardiness. Nandina Domestica Brightlight is a semi-evergreen shrub that sports vivid chartreuse, lance-like leaves, and an attractive upright growth habit. During the summer, Heavenly Bamboo Brightlight will produce white flowers borne in small panicles. With year-round interest and good performance in the garden, Nandina Domestica Brightlight is an excellent choice for adding a splash of colour to a patio or beautiful texture to your mixed shrub borders and beds.
Heavenly Bamboo Brightlight is pact and erect shrub: in a period of about five years, it will reach its mature height of 1.5 metre and width of circa 50 centimetres.
Fully hardy all across the United Kingdom, Heavenly Bamboo Brightlight is not bothered by frost nor subzero temperatures- it will survive even if the temperatures drop to -18 degrees below zero, which means you’ll get to enjoy this lovely little shrub throughout the year.
Its vibrant yellow-green foliage and elegant upright, narrow growth habit make Heavenly Bamboo Brightlight an excellent choice for adding both colour and architectural interest to the garden. Use it in mixed shrub borders or plant en masse for a vibrant, year-round display of attractive texture and colour, or plant on its own as a statement shrub. You can grow Heavenly Bamboo Brightlight in a container, as well, so you can use it as a patio plant, or to introduce a bit of striking-looking greenery to your balcony or terrace.
An undemanding cultivar, Nandina Domestica Brightlight does well in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Grow in full sun for best results.
