DETAILS
Marvelseal is an aluminized polyethylene and nylon barrier film. It resists the transmission of water vapor and other atmospheric gases and is puncture resistant. This economical, flexible and easy to fabricate material is used for passive humidity controlled shipping or storage bags. In addition, Marvelseal is ideal for lining the inside of shipping crates and exhibit cases and for lining shelves with the objective of decreasing off-gassing from exposed wooden surfaces. It has also been used to create a sealed framing package and to create a low oxygen environment to treat insect infestation. University Products has had the manufacturer remove the standard red printing because tests have shown it may oxidize. Marvelseal 1311 is a vapor barrier consisting of a PE/foil/PE laminate with a polycotton-scrim facing which allows the user to easily attach to wooden crates or shelving using wood glue or other adhesives. Ideal for preventing off-gassing in crates used to ship art or artifacts.
Marvelseal is an excellent vapor barrier and can be used to protect valuable objects stored on wooden shelving or being transported in wooden crates. The only difficulty has been effectively attaching the material to wood. Until recently, it required mechanical fastening with staples, and then covering the staples with tape.
With the introduction of Marvelseal 1311, attaching a vapor barrier to wood has become quick and easy. Like Marvelseal 360 and Marvelseal 470, Marvelseal 1311 is an excellent vapor barrier. But in addition to the PE/foil/PE laminate, the material includes a polycotton-scrim facing that readily accepts standard wood glue and neutral pH adhesive. Simply apply the glue to the wood using any standard paint brush and press in to place. Once dry, the material will remain firmly in place and your treasures are protected from offgassing.

Manufactured to MIL-PRF-131 TI C3 specifications. Protect Scrim-B is NSN 8135-01-015-2810. Moisture and vapor barrier material similar to Tyvek. Recommended for use in art preservation and archival packaging as art crate liner.
