In gearing up to tackle the GCSE exams, it can be invaluable to have an experienced tutor there to guide your child and cheer them on. That’s where I come in! I have 10+ years’ experience as an English tutor, specialising in coaching students over their exam hurdles — as well as onwards towards their wider skillsets, goals, passions, and wellbeing.

Each and every student is different, so we’ll have an ongoing discussion about what your child particularly needs to focus on — that way they can most effectively target their efforts for maximum results. I firmly believe that education is about drawing out a student’s own capabilities and raising their confidence in themselves (rather than somehow depositing ready-made ‘knowledge’ into their mind).

I may be an especially good fit for your child if the mainstream education system isn’t currently giving them what they need and/or they want a tutor who is friendly, patient, caring, and encouraging. If they have any additional support needs, I invite you to either tell me how I can best support them, or we can work it out together with time.

? Meeting with my GCSE students via Skype, I charge £50/hour (or £70/90 mins and £90/2 hours), payable via bank transfer on the day of our session.

PS I hold an MLitt. with Distinction in Comparative Literature from the University of Glasgow (I also have an MA in Comparative Literature and English Literature with Honours of the First Class, also from the University of Glasgow). As well as tutoring my students through their exams, I freelance as an editor, mentor, and consultant — with my diverse workload ranging from perfecting rigorous academic handbooks for prestigious publishers, to coaching adventurers through writing their inspiring memoirs.
