1978 Rapido folding caravan - 'the story cave'

Pop-up, 1970s Rapido caravan in good working condition, fabricated to be a ‘story cave’ for theatre, storytelling or creative writing/reading sessions.
With nearly all its original features restored and in tact such as fold up/down table that seats 4 comfortably, fold out double bed with original 1970s upholstery, pop up wardrobe, operational sink with drainage and electric tap, gas burner and fridge and wooden storage units. Plus intricate scenic painting to transform areas of the caravan to: a prehistoric jungle, ‘Narnia through the wardrobe’, a witch’s kitchen, a crocodile’s lair and deep space. This caravan has toured for 3 years with Tessa Bide Productions’ intimate and interactive family show ‘The Anarchist’s Mobile Library’ (more info online) and now the company is looking to find Sydney the caravan a new home.
Sydney would be perfect for a touring theatre company or storyteller, a school or pre-school, community venue or youth centre. Or, if you fancy camping in it, then go ahead! To refurb it back into a ‘traditional’ camper, all it would need is a few licks of paint, our refurbishments have just been cosmetic.

- 1978 Rapido folding caravan
- Dimensions: Erected: 2.4m deep x 3.61m wide x 3.34m high. Popped down, it measures 1.58m wide and 3.5m long (inc. the tow hitch)
- New custom-made, incredibly durable orange cover bought 2021.
- Caravan fully serviced in 2018 inc. new battery fitted, chassis service, electrics, lights and gas serviced. Cost: £1240
- Can be hooked up to mains power (extension cable and adapter provided) or ran off the leisure battery, which is charged while driving.
- Original, large attachable tent extension. Unused by current owner.
