1955 Morris Minor Series 2 Pick Up. This incredibly rare early Series 2 arrived to us in very good condition but did require a light recommissioning. The upgraded 1098cc engine that the previous owner replaced the original 803cc engine with ran well but had to be removed as we found excessive noise in first & reverse gear on the ribbed case gearbox on road test. While the gearbox was away being reconditioned we decided to take the head off the engine and found nothing untoward. While out the engine was painted correctly and a new wiring loom was fitted. All brakes/suspension were stripped and rebuilt and the wheels were treated to a refurbishment & new tyres. Once the gearbox returned we paired it to the engine and refitted it with a reconditioned dynamo. All fluids were dropped and replaced and the road test provided the same drive you would expect from when the Pick Up was new. After being in touch with the MMOC we found that we had a rare example of an early Series 2 as it was a home market complete knocked down kit supplied in primer finish. Some might argue that the colour of the pick up is not an original colour but as this Morris was ordered as a primer grey finish there is no original colour to speak of. The majority of these knock down kits were produced to go abroad (primarily Australia) and to have one in front of us that was produced for the UK market is rare to see. The grille and some areas around the pick up required some touching in and re-spraying and we are now left with a beautiful example that is ready for the road. As always viewing is encouraged & test driving can be arranged.
