THE VAN IS OVER 40 YEARS OLD AND MOT EXEMPT!!

I put the can through an MOT for the purpose of selling with a clear conscience knowing that the buyer would know what issues there were.

Van failed its MOT on the following:

Repair immediately (major defects):
Horn not working (7.7 (a))
Nearside Windscreen washer not working (3.5 (a))
Nearside Rear Seat belt retracting mechanism defective (7.1.2 (e))
Offside Rear Inner Suspension component mounting prescribed area excessively corroded significantly reducing structural strength sill (5.3.6 (a) (i))
Nearside Rear Outer Suspension component mounting prescribed area excessively corroded significantly reducing structural strength sill (5.3.6 (a) (i))
Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content excessive (8.2.1.2 (b))
Exhaust emissions hydrocarbon content excessive (8.2.1.2 (b))
Rear Brakes imbalanced across an axle (1.2.1 (b) (i))
Parking brake efficiency below requirements (1.4.2 (a) (i))
Repair as soon as possible (minor defects):
Offside Track rod end ball joint dust cover damaged or deteriorated, but preventing the ingress of dirt (2.1.3 (g) (i))
Offside Front Upper Suspension component ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated (5.3.4 (b) (i))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Nearside Headlamp has a product on the light source but not seriously reducing light output (4.1.4 (b))
Offside Headlamp has a product on the light source but not seriously reducing light output (4.1.4 (b))
Nearside Rear Seat belt webbing slightly damaged or frayed (7.1.2 (b) (ii))
Front Registration plate deteriorated but not likely to be misread damaged (0.1 (b))
Nearside Front Service brake fluctuating, but not excessively (1.2.1 (e))
Offside Front Service brake fluctuating, but not excessively (1.2.1 (e))
Front Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened both corroded (1.1.14 (a) (ii))
Some of the above points are relatively easy fixes.

Regardless of the above, this is a very reluctant sale, but due to the lack of use and with the kids now growing up, its sadly time to sell.

The engine (Aircooled 2.0 CU / 4 speed manual) is around 5 years old with less than 10k covered since being swapped. The engine swap was carried out by Doug VW Werks in Angmering (Sussex). The van has a total mileage of 141.356 which may increase slightly.

It has twin Weber 34 carbs and a stainless steel exhaust (back box)

This is a 4 berth van with 3/4 rock no roll bed and pop top.

The inside is a fairly modern conversion with gas hob and sink.

50mm lowering springs fitted with all shocks swapped out for Bilstein B4.

There is a leisure battery connected to a 50w solar panel which is enough to keep your phones and tablets charged up for a few days. Also 240v hook-up ready.

We have taken the van to France and Devon numerous times. Its by no means fast, but it will sit at 55mph fully laden with the family and camping gear.
