The GTS 300 SuperTech has been given a significant update, this top spec model features Vespas excellent 4.3″ full colour TFT dash boasting a host of features invluding satellite navigation.
Aesthetically the Vespa GTS SuperTech 300 retains same proportions and dimensions but look a little closer and almost every panel has some sort of update to bring this model up to date.
Lights:
Vespa GTS has a new and more appealing image thanks to the new technological solutions with which it’s enriched. The front, which through the design of the full LED headlamp makes the Vespa GTS unique, is more modern and more technological thanks to the new full LED Daytime Running Lights and turning indicators. Also, at the rear of the vehicle, the new full LED tail lamp and turning indicators make the Vespa GTS unique even from the rear view.
Keyless Ignition
GTS has the keyless system as standard.
It allows the rider to keep the key fob pocketed when unlocking, locking and starting the vehicle. Once connected, the e logo lights up on the dashboard to signal electronic key recognition by the ECU. Dedicated buttons on the electronic key, open the under seat and make remote use of the Bike Finder function. This function ensures the vehicle is recognizable even at a distance, activating both the turn indicators.
Safety
NEW FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM
The technical equipment of the Vespa GTS adopts a new suspension which, while maintaining the classical single arm with pin pulled, in the Vespa tradition, has been totally redesigned in order to reduce frictions during run, fortable and stable riding experience even on the bumpy road and at high speed.
BRAKING SYSTEM
The new braking system, thanks to:
· the new Brembo brake pumps
· the new brake calipers
allows a marked improvement in braking performance. The end result is a reduced braking distance: the vehicle passes from 80 to 0 km/ h in 32,9 meters with front brake only.
ABS
The technical layout is confirmed. Each wheel is equipped with a detection system (a sensor and a phonic wheel) that instantly measures speed and deceleration and, if one of the wheels
decelerates significantly in relation to the vehicle, it activates the ABS system avoiding locking and ensuring stability and efficient braking.
ASR
The technical layout is confirmed. It uses the ABS electronics and sensors pare the speed of rotation of the two wheels. When the sensors detect excessive speed of the rear wheel loss of vehicle control.
GTS 300 HPE Engine
The new Vespa GTS boasts the latest evolution of the 300 cc single-cylinder, 4 stroke, 4 valve, liquid-cooled engine with electronic injection: the result of Piaggio Group R&D experience, and known as 300 hpe (High Performance Engine), the unit has benefited from extensive work aimed at increasing performance while at the same time reducing fuel consumption.
With respect to the previous version, maximum es in at 17.5 kW (23.8 HP) at 8250 rpm, which translates into a 12% increase, while maximum torque, equating to 26 Nm at 5250 rpm, has been boosted by 18%. Improvements that are paired with a significant reduction in consumption, with mileage increasing from 29.4 km/l to 31 km/l in the WMTC cycle.
This is the most high-performance engine ever mounted on a Vespa, a result achieved thanks to meticulous work by Piaggio technicians across a large number ponents, with the aim of optimising thermodynamic output and reducing friction. The adoption of a new head and a piston with redesigned architecture results in a highly bustion chamber, which also benefits from valves and ducts of increased diameter inside the head. The single camshaft distribution system with roller tappets gains a camshaft with optimised timing and valve lift speeds.
The introduction of a new high pressure multi-jet injector also helps to bustion. Lastly, a more generous intake line improves the torque delivered at low revs and ensures an exceptionally smooth ride at any speed. The new iridium ignition spark-plug ensures greater durability.
The transmission has also been dramatically redesigned: the CVT boasts a new belt, new geometry and new materials, all enveloped by a new cover coated with sound-absorbent material, to reduce mechanical noise, also aided by a new, more rigid clutch drum. The engine is controlled by a latest-generation Magneti Marelli MIUG4 ECU, patible with the future Euro 5 standard.
