Job Title: Press Officer - North Region Salary: c.GBP40k (Dependant on Skills and Experience) Location: Home Based with Regional travel in North, South or East Working Hours: 35 hours per week Contract Type: Permanent The National Farmers Union (NFU) is the biggest farming organisation in the UK. Purpose of the role & how you will contribute: Within the NFU we call this role a Media Adviser (Regional). • You will identify opportunities for positive news coverage where it matters, ensuring the NFU s voice is heard across all regional media, across print and digital channels. • Your work to achieve press coverage in your own dedicated region will enhance and support the NFU communications strategy. • While increasing the quality and quantity of regional media and social media coverage for the NFU, you will also work closely with the national team to minimise any negative coverage, responding and rebutting content where needed. • Sourcing and sharing great news stories from within NFU membership with the regional team, your content will also be showcased across member engagement and marketing channels. There are three roles being advertised one in the North which covers a region from Cheshire to Northumbria, the South which covers a region from Buckinghamshire to Cornwall and the role for the East which covers a region from Norfolk to Sussex, including London. What you ll bring: Having an impressive track record in a communications environment, you will have gained significant operational experience working previously as a press officer or journalist within a busy press office or newsroom and demonstrable networking skills. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to represent, persuade and influence journalists at a high level, and have built effective media contacts, as well as advised others on effective media handling in a deadline driven environment. You will have good understanding of social media and its power to engage and influence regional media, be experienced in basic video creation to support your story and have the drive and energy needed to achieve specific media targets and coverage goals.
