We are a registered charity and our areas of interest include the arts (theatre), the environment and social inclusion.

We have been working with young people and adults who are on the fringes of education and society for the last 7 years on our site near Carmarthen called Coed Dylan. Our goal is to bring them more towards the middle, 'centre stage'.

We bought the van for Coed Dylan in order to deliver wood and building materials for our build projects, bags of compost (Merlin's Magic - thank you Cwm Environmental!) for the garden, recycled, compostable materials in our permaculture garden and materials for our pathways.

We also recycle wood and wood furniture. (Solid wood products only please - also, let us know if you have any big pieces of cardboard and we'll endeavour to pick it up from you - it is great for garden mulching) - Also, we can compost garden materials for a donation - we collect and take away to our site Coed Dylan.

Gardening - if you need any simple gardening, hedge trimming, etc, speak to Robbie and he'll see what he can sort out. We will do the job and take away the compostable materials.

We are offering this Man and Van service to help fund the van and keep it running for the charity. It helps cover petrol costs, repairs and Insurance.

Robbie has to drive the van as only insured for him to drive and he will be happy to help out with loading and unloading! (Just check his back is ok!)

We also have the possibility of hiring someone else to work with Robbie if you can't move 'stuff' yourself. Let Robbie know and we'll see what we can work out.

We are based in Cardiff, but Robbie travels down to Carmarthen at least once a week to work on our project. Check with him and if it works out, he can pick it up for you on way down there or on the way back. We've managed to help a few people this way.

Text or email in the first instance are best when giving details of the job. He's not always able to give an idea of cost on the phone.

Rates from September 2022
We are doing it this way to help you save money as well as helping our charity. We've found over the years that the more you can do, the better it is in terms of cost for you. Please have everything packed and ready to go, bring items downstairs if you can and see if you can ask friends to help. It all saves you money. We of course, can do all that (apart from packing) but whatever you can do, saves you money. If it is just Robbie, then he'll need help loading and unloading. He can also pick something up for you as long as there is help both ends with loading and unloading.

*Small jobs - IE pick up 1 item/a few items and deliver them. There is a minimum charge of £20. Even if it doesn't take an hour. Petrol will be included depending on how much travel is involved.

*Larger jobs:
£15 an hour for picking up and delivering only - loading and unloading to be done by you. The time it takes Robbie to travel to you and back to his base is also charged.
£20 an hour - Robbie to help with the loading and unloading as well as driving. Petrol costs depending on distances.

*Hiring someone to help Robbie:
Extra £20 an hour on top of the above prices to hire someone to help Robbie with loading and unloading.

*Petrol Costs:
Jobs that take place within Cardiff, three miles of CF11 there is no petrol cost.
Jobs outside three miles will incur a 0.50p a mile charge on top of the hourly rates.
For Carmarthen, London and other places in the UK - speak to Robbie about it.

*Contacting: please text him in the first instance or email. Try and give postcodes and items needing moving as well and whether you have help or not. Makes it easier to give you a fairly accurate quote. Also, if there are stairs!

Availability - variable and can work out of 'office hours'

We have been doing this for a few years now and would like to
thank all those who have used the van in the past and who came to see Say When at Chapter Arts Centre pre Covid.

The pictures here are of the van and our site - Coed Dylan - near Llangain Village, Carmarthenshire. We call the Van 'The Beast' (affectionately). It is like the Tardis, it is amazing what you can get into it. We're hoping to raise some money to make the outside look a bit nicer.

Also, please let us know if you have any old tools (garden and woodworking) you want to get rid of - preferably still working and not broken! Also, wood products. Solid wood only. We can't work with composites/painted wood products because of health restrictions. For instance, an old wooden chair or table you might be thinking of getting rid of we can take for those who visit the site to 'upcycle' it and sell on to raise money for the charity. Timber you're thinking of throwing away, logs, etc.
