An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and flexible person to join the Estate Management team and work fluidly to assist the three divisions.
The Estates team is responsible for maintaining and managing the formal grounds on site in accordance grounds maintenance needs, as well as maintaining the wider Estate areas.Handling the collection and processing of recyclable and other waste streams on campusThe post will also involve providing clinical waste services and support provision to the laboratory buildings and site infrastructure. The post holder will be a member of a small team who will work with you to develop confidence and ability in this important area of work
Responsibilities
Assist in running the daily processing of Campus waste, including recycling, composting, lab clinical waste, electrical, paper shredding and general waste.Working as part of the Estates team to provide and improve the grounds care and grassland maintenance on site.Assisting with the campus lab support services (delivery of Bio Waste Bins, Clinical waste collection, meeting room set ups, Liquid Nitrogen Dewar filling)Assist in the record keeping of clinical waste streams on site.Maintenance of campus grounds, amenity grassland and parkland areasMaintenance of Estate wood and managed grassland, from mature woodland through to newly planted trees and hay & meadow pasture.Involvement in conservation projects within the Estate grounds.Operating and maintaining various pieces of Machinery (such as Tractors, ride-on mowers etc.).Maintenance of Estate Public and Permissive footpaths (to include mowing and fencing).Winter time clearing of Campus grounds to include snow clearing and gritting on campus paths, roads and car parks.To carry out any other reasonable management request. As a member of the Estate and Gardens team, it is essential the post-holder has a flexible approach to work as they will be required to assist in all areas of the Estate department by arrangement with the line managers.
Full training will be given for all elements of the duties and responsibilities described.

Education and Qualifications
Grounds care/grounds maintenance qualification/backgroundGCSE English and Maths Grade D or above (or equivalent) Experience
Holding grounds/grass maintenance experience, or similar practical discipline.Working within a team environmentExperience of working in service provision for a large site.Waste/recycling/clinical waste experienceUse of powered hand tools, ride on and large agricultural machineryThis person needs to have a strong background in either waste services or grounds maintenance.
