The Film Atelier 314 Sangley Road CATFORD LONDON runs a specialist film studio for portraiture, fine art printing, film development (Black & White); hand-printing on silver gelatin and photographic workshops in the community to train newcomers and returners in the arts of traditional 35mm film camera photography and 120 medium format camera photography.
With our own dedicated studio with strobes, modelling and flash lighting, we teach interested film photographers and newcomers to develop an acute eye for lighting and compositional techniques with exposure and metering; the use and confidence with film cameras as well as induction into film development and processing, as well as hand printing black and white film. If there is sufficient demand we will start colour C41 process development in summer (seasonal).
Specialist workshops include cyanotype printing; large format viewcamera technique; silver gelatin split grade printing; graded paper printing; lith printing techniques, whole plate photography, selenium, copper, gold toning techniques.
We run the darkroom for hire at a competitive rate of £10/hour for regular friends and trustworthy photographers. All others require supervision.
Photography workshops run during the afternoons and evenings four times a week at affordable rates. Contact for a schedule.
