This coat brooch is from a time when edge-to-edge (unbuttoned) coats were worn, and the coat brooch would be placed near the top of the coat to keep it from flying open. The brooch pins each have a lock on them. The two centre stones in the brooch are coral (which was not illegal to wear at that time) and they are surrounded by (? faux) seed pearls. If the brooch is pulled open to the maximum the chains will allow, it would measure 5.5 inches. The height of each brooch is nearly
one inch and the width 0.75 of an inch. Today, the brooch could be worn, for example, on the lapel of a jacket or at the neck of a jumper. Something different and attractive.
