Stealth camp anywhere in this luxury off-grid tiny home on wheels, disguised as an unassuming trade van!

A brand new engine and turbo were fitted by a Ford specialist at 149984 miles (239975 km). Documents available.

We have been living in the van full-time since September 2021.

We converted this van from August 2020 until September 2021. The living space is kitted out with a fantastic, high-spec, off-grid electric system paired with a safety-checked LPG gas system. We recorded the entire van build, so if you were ever to wonder how a part of the van works, we have a video of it going together.

You will always have lots of electricity to spare. We calculated how much electricity we would need and DOUBLED it. The lithium leisure batteries (220Ah, 12V) can charge from solar panels (350W) on the roof, from running the van (off the alternator/van battery), and from plugging it in at campsites (shore power).

We have found that we can go a full 48 hours of heavy power usage, on very cloudy days, before the power runs out.
If the sun is shining, or you’re driving regularly, you should always have lots of power!
We can easily charge three laptops, two phones, and an iPad each day on top of regular power usage such as the lights and the fridge.

The massive LPG tank will last for months. The first refill we did was after 4 months of heavy oven use and using the gas heater fairly frequently and it was only half empty, so we feel it could easily go on for 8 months or more depending on usage.

This camper does not have a plumbed-in shower or hot water heater. For warm days, there is a battery-powered camping shower that can be used outside. In colder weather, we usually use campsites, gyms, and service stations to shower.

We bought this van with 138,467 miles on the clock. It was being sold as an ex-fleet vehicle, it was owned by a company called SeTyres. As it was a trade van, it does have minor superficial dents left over from its trade-van days; which we have treated to ensure there is no bare metal. Its trade-van exterior really does lend to the ability to stealth camp.

One aspect of this van’s history that gave us confidence in it, before we converted it, was that the original owner did all their own repairs in-house. We have worked for companies that do in-house repairs on their vehicles; it’s very possible to maintain vehicles at a low cost with in-house repairs. Having seen this done elsewhere, we knew that this van had been well looked after. Looking under the bonnet and on the underside, we could see they have indeed been well looked after. It ran great to boot.

We have felt very safe and secure living in this tiny home on wheels. We replaced the factory-standard driver-door lock with a super secure Hykee lock. We have also had security film fitted to the windows in both of the driver and passenger doors. This security film not only reinforces the glass to prevent it from being smashed in but if it was to still become shattered it holds all of the glass in position to maintain that the window remains blocked to any entry.
There is no chance of a thief getting into this van in a hurry, but to top it off, there’s a pin-code safe under the bed that can be accessed from the living space.

There is ample storage built into cupboards as well as below the bed. You can bring a full wardrobe for two, as well as all your household essentials.
This van doesn’t only bring the kitchen sink, it even brings a pull-out mirror!

The Van Itself:
2015 Ford Transit MK8 L3H3. Externally 6m long, 3m high.

Upgraded Hykee driver door lock for extra security.

Security film is fitted to the windows in both of the driver and passenger doors.

Upgraded rear reverse/brake light with an integrated reversing camera.

Upgraded double din stereo (Sony XAV-AX1005DB) with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
This stereo works with the new reversing camera, so when you put the van in reverse, the reversing camera turns on automatically.
Dashcam hardwired for tidy cables.

The Livingspace Specs:

Fully insulated with PIR Board and Sheep Wool. It retains its interior temperature very well and the MaxxAir fan makes it easy to cool down in warm weather.
